Edie's Story

Today I am sharing Edie's story. Edie, with the assistance of the ACLU, has filed a lawsuit to have her marriage recognized. It seems as though our government has established an intricate system to punish LGBT Americans. Yes, we must PUNISH them for being who they are. What are our priorities? I'd like to live in a society that promotes respect not one that encourages hate.

Additionally, today is Veteran's Day. There is much ado about thanking veterans and plenty of discounts and free meals to be had. This veteran is of the opinion that the best way to thank a veteran is to participate in the democratic process, exercise your rights, treat your fellow countrymen with respect and conduct yourself with honor in all actions.

Oh, and I thought our president was going to get rid of DADT...

And check this out: a recent study on child abuse found the rate for lesbian families to be ZERO. Here's a link to the HuffPost article on it (which I hope won't get this post tossed into the spam filter): http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/10/lesbians-child-abuse-0-percent_n_781624.html

Right on! As we were driving to my grandfather's funeral on Thursday (he was a WWII vet) my stomach started to turn at all of the signs for furniture stores offering Veteran's Day discounts and the like. What has this country been reduced to?
@YogaforCynics, I saw that too! Eye opening for sure.

Cool, thanks for the link @YogaforCynics. In my prior life, I was a foster care worker and recruited, trained and licensed potential families as well as placed children...my personal also supports this article.

By the way, if someone wanted to make a big difference in the world, and their heart was in helping families get strong, and back together, foster parenting is awesome. Yes, sometimes children should NOT go back to their families but ALOT of times a family truly needs someone to model appropriate behavior and provide support and they could be whole...it is truly a way to make a difference. There are many, many families who want to foster-to-adopt, the biggest need is for families, or even single parents, who will foster to assist a birth-family with reunification.
